Thierry Small to join Preston North End

'

Thierry Small will join Preston North End this summer following the expiration of his contract at Charlton Athletic.

The 20-year-old, who joined the Addicks in February 2024, played 62 times for the club and was part of the 2024/25 promotion-winning team.

During his time with Charlton, Small was also named as the men’s first team's Professional Footballers’ Association Community Champion for the 2024/25 season.

As communicated in the men's first-team's retained list, Small was offered a new deal by the Addicks, but the wing-back has subsequently agreed to join Preston North End and the club have agreed training compensation with the Lilywhites.

Manager Nathan Jones said: "We wish Thierry all the best. We tried to keep him at the club and offered him a contract, which he turned down. He felt Preston was a better fit for him, so we thank him for his contribution and wish him well."

Everyone at the club would like to thank Thierry for his contribution both on and off the pitch during his time at the club.
